About the Foundation

نبذة :

From May 2000 and until the present date, more than ten years have gone through the progress of the Arab Thought Foundation... a progress marked by work and initiatives in issues related to development, thought and culture in the Arab world. Perhaps, the most distinguishing feature of this process shall be its compatibility with the promise made by the Foundation itself, born in the bosom of the ceremonial capital of Arabic culture Beirut, when His Royal Highness Prince Royal Khalid Al Faisal called in a speech pronounced at the time, on May 29th, 2000, into a solidarity initiative between intellectuals and businessmen, adopted by an Arabic civil foundation, aiming to contribute between the Arabic renaissance and solidarity;
With the emergence of the growing role of civil society institutions in the second millennium, and the integration of their roles with the roles of the State and the private sector, in other fields of development work, including the cultural work, the Foundation has started its preparatory meeting in a temporary headquarter in the city of Abha, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, before its moving to its permanent headquarter in Beirut, in order to continue the dream of its founder that the unit pursued by the Arab nation will begin with the unity of thought and culture, active in all the humanitarian activities.

Details:

The idea of establishing the Foundation has embodied a project carrying huge hopes, driven by an objective reading of the Arab situation and the sincerity of the nation, the land, the history and the Arabic heritage, especially in light of the challenges of the new world system. Thus, Prince Khalid Al Faisal saw that the Arab nation is facing a dilemma in the age of groupings and communities, struggling with poor infrastructure and architecture in the middle of a world of power, seeking culture and work. While a minority of us feels proud of the glories of the past, another minority feels frustrated to the extent of denying its identity and adopting the culture of others; the overwhelming majority across the Arab world lived with the intimations that flicker here and there, in the hope to rain after the lightning, but to no avail... As long as we woke up from the rosy dreams to nightmares of dispute between the conflicting regional visions, and to be misled by spiteful machinations of the nation and rupture of its bond. It is not secret that the consecration of this situation came because of the absence of the real role of the Arabic thought in the unity and the advancement of the nation; and it is transforming it in many cases to a negative opposite role, under the pretext of regional or partisan or sectarian loyalty, and so on, overlooking what it is loosen by the overall Arabic cause in this employment contrary to the Arabic thought.
Proceeding from this conviction, it was necessary to establish an Arab civil foundation, that does not have any affiliation with the regulations or the partisan and sectarian directions, taking care of this thought, supporting and employing it for the benefit of the Arab nation, with the support of businessmen, those who have the sense of nationalism and those believers with the cultural responsibility of capital.
