Research and Studies Center

The Research and Studies Center consists of five core units as follows:

Research and Report Unit
This is a basic unit of the units of the Research and Studies Center, including various other units, and constitutes the top of the pyramid in the selection of research projects and reports, and the distribution of work between the other units. This unit is concerned with the launch of a set of research and periodic reports in various fields of knowledge, including the following:
•    Monthly Release: consisting of a translated book or a normal book including books translated from the Chinese language, and the report of the "State of the World" (Etat du Monde), translated from the French language, and other books on development and knowledge issues in the world.
•    Quarterly Release: (every four months) including a report (status report) about the dialogue of cultures in the world.
•    Annual Release: represented by the Arabic Report of Cultural Development.


Opinion Polling Unit
This unit has a pivotal role in the Research and Studies Center, and it identifies the attitudes, opinions and trends regarding the most prominent cultural issues of the Arab world, through the conduct of the field surveys and measuring surveys of public opinion on the collective and regional levels, and what sometimes assumed the measurement of samples trends of citizens who represent various segments of Arab society, towards developmental, intellectual and cultural issues, which operates the Arab Thought Foundation.
 
Observatory of the Dialogue of Cultures
The main role of the Observatory is represented by what the Arab personality is facing of the distortion of its image by the western media, especially after the aggravation of this problem following to the events of September 2001. Thus, the Observatory shall aim to contribute to the dialogue of cultures, instead of fueling the conflict between them, by configuring the knowledge base adopted by the Arab Thought Foundation, in building activities for cultural dialogue with the Western press, by setting the agenda of intellectual and cultural issues, relevant to the Arab world in the Western press, and the methods analysis of addressing the Western press about these issues, and to analyze the levels of development on the agenda of issues and methods of the press treatment, as well as the in-depth analysis of the most prominent cultural or intellectual issue, of  the largest interest in spreading.
It is expected that the Observatory will issue reports of different time frames (monthly, quarterly, ... etc.), for monitoring treatments offered by Western newspapers of the intellectual and cultural issues related to the Arab world, and contribute to the proposal of activities to be undertaken in order to activate the dialogue with everything offered by the Western newspapers of intellectual and cultural issues related to the Arab world.

Translation Unit
The Administration of Research and Studies Center in the Arab Thought Foundation is limiting its scope of work in determining the scientific translation projects and their implementation, through the translation of the scientific books specialized in the intellectual, cultural and developmental fields. Its main objective is to provide solid scientific material in the above mentioned fields, either through the translation of these works from world languages into Arabic language, or from Arabic language into the languages of the world, in the context of intercultural communication.

Seminars Unit
Its scope of work is limited to draw up projects and plans for seminars throughout the year. One of its missions is monitoring the Arabic cultural and intellectual movement and appointing the most prominent issues associated with this movement in order to organize seminars around this subject. This unit shall also undertake the task of selecting seminars or meetings or workshops related to research projects for the Arab Thought Foundation, as well as the task of securing the appropriate speakers for every occasion.
